I was hired on to the Klipsun Magazine quarterly staff as one of the graphic designers. My lead designer assigned spreads to me and the other designer and one of the ones I was assigned was the center spread that dealt with grief and how to deal with the death of loved ones. I also designed a narrative spread about a student's internal conflict with her Chinese heritage and being adopted into a white, Jewish family. I was given free reign on the designs and tried to create spreads that were tied to the emotional value of the writing. My team and I had about 5 production days.

I moved up to become the lead designer, which gave me more responsibility, final say on layout design, and I packaged the files for the printers. I asked the staff to critique our last issue and the biggest critique was the lack of cohesion. I fixed that by having the other designers and I collaborate on the first spread and we created paragraph styles, a color scheme, and graphic elements that would be present throughout the entire issue. We had significantly less time to design this quarter, so being able to knock those elements out first sped up our production. My team and I had 2 production days.
